A WIP listing of the various people, cryptids, and mythological creatures depicted in Metazoo, with emphasis on their real/folklore origins.

Alien: Creatures and/or flying crafts originating from space.

Cryptid: animals with disputed existence and/or evidence. May be based on real creatures.

Mythological: relating to creatures, monsters, and beings from myth and legend.

Real Person: real people, though their stories may be well-exaggerated now

Spirit: Ghosts, ghouls, and related metaphysical beings.

Tall Tale Animal: also known as "Fearsome Creatures," "Fearsome Critters," etc. Borne from campfire story oral traditions in logging camps in the early 20th century. Used to pass the time or to haze new loggers, the stories were collaborative, swapped between loggers as they moved from place to place. This built up an specifically North American mythos of strange and odd creatures, often used to explain seemingly unnatural events and phenomena.
